Wedding Policies

READ A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM PASTOR BRUCE FROGGE

We are delighted at Cypress Creek to be a part of one of the most joyous occasions of your lives and welcome all Christian wedding services! A wedding can be held in any setting, but the choice of The Centrum or The Forum as the site for your wedding service has some distinctive characteristics. Our wedding and marriage ministries are here to assist you in planning your wedding and more importantly, to help prepare you for a lifetime commitment in marriage. We consider the ceremony to be a sacred event in which the bride and the groom pledge themselves to one another in the presence of God.

Our wedding policies reflect our conviction that a wedding ceremony is a worship service. These policies apply whether the wedding is a large event attended by many persons or a small event attended only by members of the immediate family, and regardless of church membership. The wedding introduction often says, “We are gathered here today in the presence of God…” This belief is inherent in our wedding policies.

Cypress Creek Christian Community Center welcomes you as you begin to plan your wedding. Our venues include a quaint space in the Chapel, a small intimate family ceremony in The Forum or a larger wedding in The Centrum, we hope to have the pleasure of hosting your special day.

Wedding Policies

Scheduling – Please schedule your wedding with us as soon as possible. Weddings are scheduled as far as 12 months in advance. The Forum seats 270 friends and family. The Chapel seats 45. The main floor of the Centrum/Sanctuary is under renovations at this time.

Great Start – To help you begin your life together, we ask all couples being married at Cypress Creek to contact the Cypress Creek Christian Church clergy person officiating your ceremony who will visit with you help you prepare realistically for marriage by building a skilled happy and growing relationship.

Coordinators – Cypress Creek Christian Church provides a Wedding Coordinator for each ceremony. We welcome outside wedding coordinators for your personal needs, however, final decisions must be approved by the Cypress Creek Coordinator.

Music – Music is a very important part of your wedding and we are ready to help you plan that part of your service. Music for this happy occasion should reflect the spiritual nature of the ceremony and should be in keeping with the worship and dignity of a sacred service, as distinguished from a social gathering. If there is special secular or popular music that may be of particular significance to the bride and groom, it is suggested that such music be included at the rehearsal dinner or the reception. The music coordinator/organist provides the music for all traditional weddings held at the church and will help you make your selections that reflect the sacred nature of the occasion and that are meaningful personal choices for you. The Director of Contemporary Music coordinates for the contemporary wedding services.

Vocalists and Instrumentalists – If you choose to have a vocalist and/or instrumentalist, please ensure that those individuals are coordinating with the organist, so that they may have time to rehearse, if necessary.
Wedding Party – It is expected that the members of the wedding party will conduct themselves at all times in a manner acceptable to a place of worship. Alcohol is not allowed on the church/community center grounds and tobacco use is not permitted in the buildings.

Rehearsals – Rehearsals are generally scheduled at 5:30 pm on Friday evenings (or the day prior to the service) and are limited to one hour, therefore it is important to be on time. Everyone involved in the wedding, including the bride and groom, attendants, ushers, candle lighters, scripture readers, parents and grandparents should be present.

Photographers – No flash photography is permissible in the Centrum or the Forum after the processional and during the recessional. The Wedding Coordinator will gladly discuss photography expectations and restrictions with you.

Videographers – Your ceremony may be videotaped from the locations specified by Wedding Coordinator using available light only.

Flowers – All floral or other wedding decorative arrangements must be approved by the Wedding Coordinator. Specific guidelines will be provided at the time of consultation.

Decorating – Decorating of the facilities may occur the day of the event. Additional hours on any other day than that of the event will involve an additional rental. Agreement Form for photographers, videographers, and florists – Detailed photography/videography instruction sheet and agreement form which is to be signed by photographer, videographer and florist will be provided by Wedding Coordinator at your first planning meeting.

Accommodations – Springhill Suites Marriott has special rates for your family and friends that are traveling in for your special day. Contact Debbie Bunn at debbie.bunn@marriott.com or call 832.953.2220 ext. 2224 for rates and availability.

License – A Texas marriage license is required to be presented to the Officiant at the wedding rehearsal. The wedding service, by law, cannot be performed without a valid license presented prior to the service. A Texas marriage license can be obtained from any county courthouse in Texas. State law mandates that the marriage ceremony may not be performed during the 72-hour period immediately following the issuance of a marriage license, unless special provisions are met. There can be no exceptions to this rule. If you have further questions, contact the Harris County Clerk’s Office at 713-755-6411.
